Full access to the current SMI specification/documentation and update information; usage rights to the SMI interface and SMI brand possible according to trademark agreement and fees. |
| B | For manufacturers of finished products (shutters, sun protection, windows) without their own controllers/drives, planning/consulting firms, property owners, investors, sponsors, and associations that follow/support SMI. No automatic full access to the complete, current SMI specification solely through membership fees. |
| C | Non-profit organizations, research institutes, government agencies, or individuals. |
Who Can Become a Member?
Companies and organizations along the entire value chain of sun protection and facade construction that develop, manufacture, distribute, or integrate drives, actuators, controllers, or system integration with SMI relevance into projects can become members. This includes drive and controller manufacturers, building system providers, OEMs/brands, component and interface providers, as well as planning firms, integrators, and larger operators who wish to anchor SMI in tenders and portfolios.
Through the association structure under German law and the technical/marketing working groups, companies are particularly addressed that wish to actively participate in the further development, certification, and market penetration of the standard, including use of the association brand and participation in product registration and specification processes.
